Seventies Rock

This was one of the best decades for rock and roll and what types of music it produced for the classic rock fans! Seventies rock and roll was a very influential decade for the southern classic rock, and big time stadium rock beginnings. Lots of great bands came out of the seventies including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and many many more. These songs are timeless and still play on many of the classic rock stations throughout the world.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was arguably the biggest rock and roll band to come out of the south back in the nineteen seventies and they were a huge band with a cult like following during the time. Over at pawn shop Cumming, they have lots of memorabilia of them. Their lead singer Ronnie Van Sant was the main reason with his great rocker personality and great stage presence. This band sold out stadiums across the southeast and the country during the seventies until three of the founding band members died in a terrible plane crash in 1977. This put an abrupt end to the bands popularity because of this, and they tried to keep it going for a while but never quite equaled their earlier success.

Led Zeppelin was another huge band that really erupted during the nineteen seventies and became the biggest rock band of the decade. They toured a lot during the early 1970’s until one of the band members died of alcoholism in 1980 and they suffered from that for sure. Their signature hits such as “Stairway to Heaven”, “the song remains the same” and many more that catapulted them into stratespheric success during the 1970’s and are arguably one of the most influential rock bands of all time. They paved the way for heavy metal some rock and roll lovers would say and their partying ways were also very famously portrayed in movies and folklore.

Pink Floyd was also a huge rock and roll band in the nineteen seventies that carried over into the eighties as well. Their album “Dark side of the Moon” was a huge success and we used to listen to this album in college all the time. Pink Floyd had a rare unique sound about them that added to their mystic and popularity that rose during the 1970’s and beyond. I am still a huge fan and try to listen to them as much as possible til this day. There are so many songs that they have produces that are fantastic that I can’t possibly list them all here!

Well, the seventies was a decade of excellent rock and roll music that paved the way for most of the rock and roll that you hear today. Although the popularity of rock and roll has decreased somewhat since the turn of the century, there are still a lot of fans who love the classic rock years of the 1970’s and all the bands that make up that decade.
